KCCI: "Need to Gather Opinions on the Passage of the Carbon Neutrality Basic Act by the Environment and Labor Committee"
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] The Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) expressed concerns on the 19th over the National Assembly's Environment and Labor Committee passing the "Basic Act on Carbon Neutrality and Green Growth for Climate Crisis Response" (Carbon Neutrality Basic Act), citing insufficient consultation with the industrial sector.
Park Jae-geun, head of KCCI's Industrial Research Division, stated in a commentary that afternoon, "We cannot help but express concern over the passage of a bill that stipulates specific target figures for the 2030 Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) without consultation with the industry, which is the main stakeholder."
Park emphasized, "The upward revision of the 2030 NDC directly affects our exports and industrial competitiveness, so it is necessary to gather extensive opinions from experts and companies."
