Lee Jae-myung: "My son failed at a Gyeonggi Province affiliated agency... currently working at a small business"
[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party's presidential candidate and governor of Gyeonggi Province, said on the 18th, "My son took a (job) exam at a Gyeonggi Province affiliated institution but failed."
Lee appeared on the YouTube show 'Maebul Show' and said, "He went to a pretty good school and had decent grades, and he applied to many large companies, but he was rejected everywhere." Lee has two sons. Both have completed their military service and graduated from university. In the broadcast, when asked about his son's employment status, he replied, "He recently got a job. He works at a company with five employees."
While expressing regret toward his sons, he said, "They truly grew up properly. They never expected any 'dad chance' or 'family chance,' and I am not someone who would do that for them." When asked whether his sons would help with the election campaign, he said, "I try to keep them from appearing as much as possible. It could cause them hurt or burden," adding, "My sons will live their own lives, and I will live mine."
Regarding his loss in the 2017 party presidential primary, he mentioned, "It was fortunate that I didn't make it. I wasn't prepared enough at that time." When asked about the possibility of losing in this presidential election, he said, "I don't think it's bad; there are many paths. Being president is not even my dream."
