This blood donation event will deploy seven mobile blood donation vehicles at the county office, health center, Hwangsan-myeon and Songji-myeon offices, Woori General Hospital, and the police station, operating from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The Gwangju-Jeonnam Blood Center of the Korean Red Cross will provide personnel and transfusion equipment, and the event will be conducted strictly following COVID-19 prevention guidelines such as temperature checks inside the mobile vehicles and regular disinfection of the vehicles.
Residents wishing to participate in blood donation should avoid excessive drinking and overwork the day before and bring their ID when visiting. Participants will receive a basic blood test (7 items) and a small souvenir (a box of droplet-blocking masks), and four hours of volunteer service will be recognized through the Volunteer Certification Management Center.
This year, Haenam-gun has held four blood donation events in cooperation with the Korean Red Cross Gwangju-Jeonnam Blood Center to alleviate blood supply shortages caused by COVID-19, with 418 residents participating.
Additionally, last year, 608 Haenam residents participated in blood donation, ranking first in the number of blood donors among county-level units nationwide and first among cities and counties in Jeonnam Province.
A county official said, “The number of blood donors has decreased due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, making emergency blood supply difficult in various accidents or disasters,” and urged many residents to participate in blood donation.
