Miryang-si Signs Business Agreement with National Korea Agro-Fisheries University to Foster and Support Professional Farmers

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] On the 17th, Miryang City in Gyeongnam announced that it has signed a business agreement with the National Korea National College of Agriculture and Fisheries to foster professional farmers who will lead future agriculture and improve the quality of life by increasing farmers' income.
Through this agreement, the city and the Korea National College of Agriculture and Fisheries promised mutual cooperation for operating lifelong education courses such as on-site practical training to support farming settlement, transferring specialized agricultural skills and providing systematic consulting support, developing projects to revitalize the 6th industry to strengthen farmers' capabilities, and supporting young farmers' settlement activities in local communities.
Prior to this agreement, in July, the city held an admissions briefing session with the Korea National College of Agriculture and Fisheries for 25 students from five schools including Milseong High School in the district, receiving a good response from students wishing to enter the agricultural university.
Mayor Park Il-ho said, "We will transform into a region that leads job creation by educating young farmers seeking new paths in agriculture and middle-aged people dreaming of a second life in rural areas on the latest trends and specialized technologies in agriculture."

Meanwhile, the Korea National College of Agriculture and Fisheries, a cradle for nurturing talents leading domestic agricultural education, has produced over 5,000 graduates since its establishment. 84.7% of all graduates have settled in farming, earning an average annual income of about 90 million KRW, contributing to cultivating elite personnel in the agricultural and fishery fields.
