Kim Tae-ho, Withdraws from Presidential Race ... "Will Gain More Experience and Take Time for Deep Reflection"
[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] On the 17th, Kim Tae-ho, a member of the People Power Party, announced that he will not run in next year's presidential election. Kim stated that he will take time for "tempering."
On the same day, through social media (SNS), Kim said, "I intend to stop my steps here," adding, "It seems the public's evaluation of my role is already over. Continuing further holds little meaning." Despite declaring his candidacy for the presidential election, his support rates have been sluggish in various opinion polls, which is interpreted as his decision not to continue his presidential bid.
He said, "I will seek new usefulness and roles for regime change," adding, "I will gladly carry the kettle, massage the shoulders of the players, and kneel and bow down so that the players can leap higher."
He continued, "I was still lacking a lot," and said, "I will build more experience and spend more time in deep reflection." Referring to the proverb 불비불명 (不飛不鳴, a bird neither flies nor sings, meaning to quietly wait for the right time to accomplish great things), he said, "By stepping back one step, I promise two steps forward."
Kim also gave advice to the presidential candidates. He said, "No matter what situation arises, please do not forget the desire for regime change," and added, "This is not a fight among ourselves, but a fierce battle over how to build the Republic of Korea and its future."
