This agreement was conducted in writing to comply with COVID-19 quarantine rules.
Through the agreement, Boseong-gun and the Korea Environment Corporation plan to wash and sort discarded ice packs and provide them to small business owners.
The county will carry out the collection, transportation, and public awareness of ice packs, while the Korea Environment Corporation Gwangju Jeonnam Jeju Environmental Headquarters will support the production of collection boxes and the discovery of demand sources.
Kim Cheol-woo, Governor of Boseong-gun, said, "The use of ice packs has increased due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and the summer heat, but many are discarded after a single use," adding, "We will do our best to collect and recycle ice packs."
Meanwhile, through this year's ice pack reuse pilot project, the county is collecting about 600 ice packs from seven apartment complexes in the area and supplying them free of charge to places such as Hoecheon Fish Market.
