[Asia Economy Reporter Junhyung Lee] Iljin Hi-Solus, a hydrogen fuel storage solution specialist company under Iljin Group, announced on the 13th that it will exclusively supply hydrogen fuel tanks for Hyundai Motor Company's next-generation hydrogen electric vehicle model, the 'Nexo.'
Following the initial Nexo model in 2018, Iljin Hi-Solus will supply all hydrogen fuel tanks for the next-generation model to be released in 2023. The Nexo represents Hyundai's hydrogen strategy and accounted for about 70% of the global hydrogen electric vehicle market last year.
Previously, Iljin Hi-Solus first supplied hydrogen fuel tanks for Hyundai's 'Tucson ix,' the world's first commercially available hydrogen vehicle launched in 2014. After the Nexo in 2018, the company has strengthened its partnership with Hyundai by supplying hydrogen fuel storage systems for key hydrogen electric vehicle models such as hydrogen buses in 2020.
Hong-sang Ahn, CEO of Iljin Hi-Solus, said, "By supplying hydrogen fuel tanks for the next-generation model following the Nexo, we are able to contribute to the growth of hydrogen mobility together with Hyundai." He added, "We will provide the best products to establish the Nexo as the top model in the rapidly growing global hydrogen electric vehicle market."
