Amid growing social issues such as blind spots in child care due to COVID-19 and widening regional educational gaps, the program provided science experiment education for 5th and 6th grade elementary school students.
The 15th LS Dream Science Class was held online from the 26th of last month to the 13th of next month, offering science experiment education and cultural experiences to 180 children in nine regions nationwide, including Anyang, Ulsan, Cheongju, Donghae, and Jeonju.
LS Dream Science Class is the group’s educational social contribution program started in 2013, held twice a year during summer and winter vacations in nine regions nationwide. Engineering students from major universities and LS employees participate as mentors. This year, to minimize COVID-19 infection risks, the entire LS Dream Science Class was conducted online in a non-face-to-face format, and laptops and other online devices were provided regionally to economically disadvantaged children during the program period.
During the activity period, from the 3rd to the 5th, a three-day online vision camp was held at a professional studio in Mapo-gu, where elementary students from each region gathered in one space to communicate with each other. Park Chanhoo, CEO of the science and engineering content startup 'Geekble,' and creators An Habin and Lee Boram from the science YouTube channel 'Cocobora' appeared to give science lectures and conduct quiz shows for the children.
