Jung Se-kyun Announces Economic Plan 'SKnomics'... Introduces 120% Preferential Wage for Non-Regular Workers
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jin-young] Jeong Se-gyun, a presidential candidate from the ruling party, announced his economic plan, 'SKnomics,' on the 12th. The plan includes providing a lifelong scholarship of 20 million won for nationwide vocational education and introducing a 120% preferential wage system for non-regular workers to reduce inequality between non-regular and regular workers.
Jeong held a press conference at the National Assembly in the afternoon and stated, "The spirit of our era is to resolve inequality," adding, "We will achieve innovative growth, balanced growth, job growth, and a grand social compromise that differentiates from the existing economic growth policies."
For innovative growth, he emphasized educational innovation. Jeong said, "To nurture outstanding talent in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution, we will create university cities centered around leading regional universities nationwide in connection with Seoul National University." These universities will have tuition and dormitory fees waived and receive substantial support for educational research expenses. Additionally, a lifelong scholarship of 20 million won will be provided for nationwide vocational education.
For balanced growth, he pledged to eliminate inequality between large corporations and small and medium enterprises (SMEs), as well as between regular and non-regular workers. Jeong said, "It is unjust that wages differ by twice as much depending on whether one works at headquarters, primary contractors, or subcontractors for the same job," and added, "We will introduce a wage solidarity system between large and small-medium enterprises to reduce wage gaps." He continued, "To alleviate inequality between non-regular and regular workers, we will introduce a preferential wage system that pays non-regular workers 120% of the wage," and added, "We will also implement a gender wage disclosure system." To reduce asset inequality, he proposed supplying equity-accumulation type half-half housing and strengthening taxation on real estate and financial assets.
