UK Aircraft Carrier 'Queen Elizabeth' Nuclear-Powered Submarine Arrives at Busan Port
[Asia Economy Yang Nak-gyu, Military Specialist Reporter]The nuclear-powered submarine belonging to the UK's latest aircraft carrier 'Queen Elizabeth' (64,000-ton class), which is known to visit Busan at the end of this month, has entered Busan.
According to the Navy on the 12th, the nuclear-powered submarine 'Artful' belonging to the Queen Elizabeth carrier strike group docked at the Busan Naval Operations Command port on the morning of the previous day. Artful plans to load military supplies and inspect equipment here.
Submarines belonging to the carrier strike group operate in advance to escort the carrier during navigation or for preliminary inspection. PCR tests are being conducted on the crew members aboard Artful in accordance with the COVID-19 situation.
The Queen Elizabeth, which recently arrived in Guam, is expected to visit the Busan Naval Base at the end of this month to enhance defense cooperation.

Defense Ministry spokesperson Bu Seung-chan said at the regular briefing that day, "Currently, one vessel has entered the Busan operational base for loading military supplies and crew rest," adding, "During the docking period, we will closely cooperate with quarantine authorities to implement COVID-19 prevention measures." He continued, "There are no planned activities with our Navy," and "Regarding the carrier strike group, both countries are currently discussing detailed schedules related to the docking."
