'Interstellar' Hollywood Producer Linda Obst Joins

Director Yoon Je-kyun, known for the films 'Haeundae (2009)' and 'Ode to My Father (2014)', is set to direct a global film centered on K-pop. The tentative title is 'K-Pop: Lost in America'. He is targeting the global market in collaboration with Hollywood producer Linda Obst, who produced the film 'Interstellar (2014)'.
According to CJ ENM on the 10th, this project was planned by connecting the high interest in Korean creators with the worldwide popularity of K-pop. The aim is to support talented Korean creators in expanding overseas and to elevate the value of K-content, including K-pop. A representative explained, "This is a large-scale project combining our content planning and production capabilities, which created works like 'Snowpiercer (2013)' and 'Parasite (2019)', with Obst's production expertise and Director Yoon's directing skills."
Obst is a renowned producer behind hits such as the films 'Interstellar', 'Sleepless in Seattle (1993)', 'One Fine Day (1996)', 'Contact (1997)', and the dramas 'Hot in Cleveland' and 'Helix'. She boasts an impressive career with 3 Academy Awards, 4 Golden Globe Awards, and 3 Emmy Awards. She stated, "I have a deep affection for Korean culture overall, especially K-pop," and added, "I am determined to make this project a success."
Director Yoon plans to cast numerous Hallyu stars, Hollywood, and pop music icons to create a film that will satisfy global audiences. Starting this month, auditions for lead actors to play members of a boy band will begin, marking the start of the pre-production phase.
