Judooseok, Jangseong County Governor, Proposes 'Youth Farmer Policy' to Kim Youngrok, Jeonnam Governor

[Jangseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jo Hangyu] Yoo Doo-seok, the governor of Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do, requested Kim Young-rok, governor of Jeollanam-do, who visited the Chadol Peach farm in Jinwon-myeon on the 9th, to expand support for young farmers.

According to the county on the 10th, the farm visited by Governor Kim is ‘Haengbokeul Farm’ operated by young farmer Kim Jae-won, specializing in cultivating Chadol Peaches, a specialty of Jangseong, on a 2.35-hectare site.

They produce 18 tons annually of high-quality Chadol Peaches and sell processed peach products such as jam, dried peaches, and syrup both online and offline. They are also expanding their market globally, exporting about 5 tons of peaches to Singapore.

Governor Yoo Doo-seok said, “The enthusiasm of young farmers who want to challenge the changing agricultural environment is intense,” adding, “Long-term ‘package support’ from the preparation stage of agriculture to distribution is necessary so that they can realize their dreams in rural areas.”

Governor Kim Young-rok added, “The solution to urgent issues such as local extinction and rural aging is fostering young farmers,” and said, “Jeollanam-do and the county will strive to implement various support policies for young farmers by demonstrating partnership.”

The county has implemented 44 young farmer policies over four years of the 7th local government administration, providing support worth 42 billion KRW, including 1.5 billion KRW in startup funds through the ‘2040 Generation Young Farmer Fostering Project’ targeting young farmers who have not yet established a farming foundation.

Additionally, the age criterion for young farmers was expanded from under 39 years old to under 44 years old to increase support.
