CJ Logistics Supports Exports for Small and Medium Enterprises... Opens New 'Global e-Fulfillment Center'
[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] CJ Logistics announced on the 9th that it has newly opened a ‘Global e-Fulfillment Center’ equipped with customs clearance functions to support exports of over 5,000 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and mid-sized companies in collaboration with KOTRA and the Korea Customs Service. Fulfillment service refers to a method where a logistics specialist selects and packages products according to orders on behalf of sellers and handles delivery as well.
On the same day, CJ Logistics signed a ‘SME E-commerce Export Support Project Agreement’ at KOTRA headquarters in Seocho-gu, Seoul, with the attendance of Im Jae-hyun, Commissioner of the Korea Customs Service, Yoo Jung-yeol, President of KOTRA, and Kang Shin-ho, CEO of CJ Logistics.
Through this agreement, the company plans to provide both logistics services and customs clearance functions simultaneously to selected promising export companies. This will simplify export logistics procedures and reduce administrative burdens for SMEs and mid-sized companies. Depending on the export country, they will also receive international express shipping discounts ranging from 15% to 30%.
CJ Logistics will newly operate a ‘Global e-Fulfillment Center’ with an area of approximately 9,900㎡ (3,000 pyeong) in Jung-gu, Incheon Metropolitan City to carry out the entire export logistics process at once. The center will provide logistics services such as export product classification, packaging, and transportation, and simultaneously offer customs clearance services through CJ Logistics’ affiliated customs brokers.
The company plans to add product storage and inventory management functions through infrastructure expansion and system upgrades in the second half of this year. Through this, it is expected to provide a ‘same-day order?same-day export’ service, significantly shortening delivery times.
Additionally, KOTRA, participating in the support project, will continuously discover promising export companies and provide one-stop marketing and logistics services for e-commerce exports, logistics cost support, and expert consultation programs. The Korea Customs Service operates the export list conversion reporting system to ensure that customs clearance for export companies is processed swiftly.
CJ Logistics aims to maximize the export support effect by cooperating with each institution and successfully operating the ‘Global e-Fulfillment Center’ to provide high-quality export logistics services.
