Contributing to Resident Safety through Real-Time Monitoring for Crime and Accident Prevention... Establishing a Rapid Response System via Organic Cooperation with Geumcheon Police Station... Adding 29 More Safety and Security CCTVs by the End of This Year
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) was ranked 2nd place among the 'Best Control Centers' in the evaluation conducted by the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency for 25 CCTV control centers in Seoul's autonomous districts in the first half of 2021.
This evaluation was conducted based on the categories of criminal apprehension, crime prevention, and best practices at CCTV control centers, selecting the best control centers according to the highest scores.
Following the selection results, on the 6th, the chief of Geumcheon Police Station presented certificates of appreciation and commendations to two control operators and one police officer.
This achievement is the result of efforts to establish an organic cooperative system with Geumcheon Police Station and to respond promptly to prevent not only the five major violent crimes but also fires and traffic safety accidents.
At the U-Integrated Operation Center, 18 personnel including control operators and police officers monitor the CCTV cameras installed throughout Geumcheon-gu 24 hours a day.
In the first half of this year alone, the Geumcheon-gu U-Integrated Operation Center recorded 81 real-time apprehensions of crime suspects related to violence, theft, drunk driving, and 1,772 cases of crime prevention.
Additionally, in June, a control operator in Geumcheon-gu played a significant role in solving a 10 million won cash snatching case by tracing the suspect backward through CCTV footage and apprehending the criminal.
Meanwhile, the district has installed and operates 2,374 CCTV cameras at 721 locations within the area to prevent crime and protect residents' safety from incidents and accidents, and plans to install additional 29 safety and crime prevention CCTV cameras by the end of this year.
