Defending champion Park In-bi (33, KB Financial Group) smiled as she wrapped up the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. On the final day of the women's golf tournament held on the 7th at Kasumigaseki Golf Club in Saitama Prefecture, Japan (par 71, 6,648 yards), she added 2 under par to finish tied for 23rd place (5 under par, 279 strokes). Park In-bi was the gold medalist at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Even after five years, she maintained top form and represented Korea at the Olympics, but she was unable to achieve the expected results.
"Today was my best," said Park In-bi, adding, "There were difficult moments during the five years of preparation," and "The result is a bit disappointing." This is effectively a farewell to the Olympics. "Although there are three years left until the 2024 Paris Olympics, it feels like a long time to me," she emphasized, "I approached this tournament thinking it would be my last." She continued, "I have to play more perfectly than before," and explained, "So, three years from now will be a bit tough for me."
