Wando-gun Provides Total 800 Million Won in Disaster Relief Funds to Farms Affected by Cold Wave

[Wando＝Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyung-pil] Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Shin Woo-cheol) is providing disaster relief funds and agricultural machinery and equipment to farms that suffered difficulties due to the cold wave in January.

According to the county on the 6th, the support targets are 61 farms (26.2 hectares) cultivating fruit trees and vegetables, with plans to provide 76 million KRW for pesticide spraying to control crop diseases and pests, and 17 million KRW for installing irrigation facilities to prevent damage to yuzu farms.

Disaster relief funds were first provided with 23 million KRW to 61 farms, and in the second phase, 556 million KRW will be paid to 531 farms by November.

In addition, continuous monitoring and on-site inspections of the affected farms are being conducted to listen to difficulties and prepare support measures, and agricultural technology guidance in cooperation with the Agricultural Technology Center is also being provided, receiving great responses from the farms.

The county plans to continue holding farm workshops and meetings to develop Wando Natural Agriculture by listening to farmers' voices, rather than providing one-time support.

Meanwhile, in response to changes in agricultural trends, the county plans to contribute to increasing farm income by reflecting policies such as cultivating elephant garlic and ground aralia grown in Cheongsan-myeon and Saengil-myeon as niche (specialized) crops that can succeed in the domestic consumer market, under the Wando Natural Agriculture brand.
