Yongbaek Lee's 'Broken Mirror' and Other Apob Exhibition Works Now Available for Purchase as NFTs
T&C Foundation, 'The World You and I Created' Exhibition NFT Auction
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Works by renowned domestic painters, including digital media artist Lee Yong-baek, who has been engaged in experimental artistic activities, are being produced as non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and put up for auction.
According to the industry on the 5th, the T&C Foundation is producing the works from last year's APoV exhibition "The World You and I Made" as NFT art and conducting an auction on the NFT platform Featured by Binance. NFTs refer to tokenizing digital files such as artworks, images, videos, and game items to assign value and turn them into virtual assets.
The "The World You and I Made" NFT art auction will be held from Sunday the 8th to Sunday the 15th on Featured by Binance. Participation in the auction is possible using BNB coins.
The APoV exhibition "The World You and I Made" is an exhibition conveying messages of empathy and consolation toward others through installation works by eight artists from Korea, China, and Japan, along with five themed works. Since its opening in May this year, it has been drawing over 110,000 visitors at the Jeju Podo Museum and the metaverse platform ZEPETO.
The T&C Foundation plans to spread messages of empathy to overseas audiences through this NFT art sale, support the participating artists with the proceeds, and provide educational support for vulnerable children and youth in various regions, including Jeju Island.
There are a total of 13 works for sale as NFT art. These include Lee Yong-baek’s "Broken Mirror 2011," three pieces by Seong Lib titled "Passing Anonymous People," Choi Su-jin’s "Worm-Eaten Forest," Kwon Yong-joo’s "Two People" and "Anonymous," Kang Ae-ran’s "Room of Contemplation," and three works by Jin Ki-jong titled "Us and Them," among others.
These works have been realized as unique NFT art through reinterpretations by the artists. Enhanced with digital video, intense sound, motion graphics, and animation techniques, they are praised for delivering powerful messages even without viewing the exhibition in person.
