Israel Conducts Airstrikes on Lebanon Border Area... "In Response to Rocket Attacks"
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunwoo Lee] The Israeli military reportedly carried out airstrikes using fighter jets on the Lebanon border area, escalating military tensions across the Middle East. The Israeli government stated that the military operation was a retaliatory response to rocket fire launched from the Lebanon border area the previous day, which struck Israel.
On the 5th (local time), the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced in a statement, "We conducted two airstrikes with fighter jets on southern Lebanon, from where the rockets that hit Israel the previous day were launched," emphasizing, "Lebanon lacks the capability to control terrorist organizations operating within its territory, and if terrorist attacks against Israel continue, airstrikes will persist."
Earlier, three rockets were fired from the southern Lebanon border area into Israel, causing fires in the affected villages. The Israeli military immediately launched retaliatory shelling, and Lebanon reported that residents near the border area suffered damage.
According to local media such as The Times of Israel, while the Israeli military did not directly name those behind the rocket attack, internally it is believed to be the work of Hezbollah, a Palestinian armed faction active in the Lebanon area. Hezbollah is known as an armed group supported by Iran and operates in Lebanon and the Palestinian Gaza Strip.
