Geochang-gun Requires COVID-19 Testing for Residents Visiting Other Regions
Avoid Contact with Residents of Other Areas, Conduct Proactive Testing Even Without Symptoms After Contact
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam Province, is conducting a promotional campaign encouraging local residents who have visited other regions to undergo diagnostic testing in order to proactively respond to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
On the 28th of last month, Geochang-gun issued an administrative order restricting nighttime drinking and eating activities at major tourist sites and outdoor rest areas such as valleys. Recently, in response to the trend of asymptomatic infection spread, the county has been actively promoting diagnostic testing to residents who have had contact with people from other regions.
In the Gyeongnam area, 60 new COVID-19 cases were reported from 5 p.m. on the 3rd to 2 p.m. on the 4th. Geochang-gun was not included among the 11 cities and counties where cases occurred on that day.
County Governor Goo In-mo appealed, "This is a crisis situation where COVID-19 cases are rapidly increasing in non-metropolitan areas due to nationwide population movement during the summer vacation season. After inevitably visiting other regions, please be sure to visit a screening clinic."
