Yangcheon-gu, Free Tree Care Service for School Forests, Welfare, and Youth Facility Green Spaces
Email Submissions to District Office Park and Greenery Division by August 11
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Kim Soo-young) is promoting a 'Living Area Tree Diagnosis Private Consulting Service' targeting green spaces frequently used by the public, such as school forests and welfare and youth facilities within the district.
The Living Area Tree Diagnosis Private Consulting is a service where private tree diagnosis experts from tree hospitals diagnose the causes of damage to trees caused by pests, diseases, or improper pesticide use, and then issue prescriptions free of charge to applicants and the relevant district office. However, pest control and treatment based on the tree diagnosis prescriptions are not provided. Private green spaces and trees (such as those in apartments) that are not public green spaces frequently used by the public are excluded.
Citizens' interest and participation in living forests are steadily increasing. While it is very desirable for forests to increase in the spaces where citizens live, the frequency of physiological disorders and pest and disease outbreaks in urban forests is also steadily rising, making appropriate management necessary.
Accordingly, the district aims to provide residents with a pleasant tree environment by quickly identifying the exact causes of pest and disease outbreaks through living area tree diagnosis consulting and suggesting countermeasures, thereby maintaining healthy urban forests.
The application period is from July 28 to August 11. Those wishing to receive consulting should first inquire by phone with the Parks and Greenery Division of the district office and then submit an application form via email (hjh2021@yangcheon.go.kr).
The analysis data from the tree diagnosis private consulting will be used as basic data for the Korea Forest Service's forest pest and disease policy materials and system improvements in the future. The district expects that this project will establish a professional diagnosis system for living area trees.

Kim Soo-young, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, said, “Planting trees is important, but ensuring that the planted trees grow well is especially crucial in urban forest creation,” and added, “We will continue to focus on pest and disease prevention activities to ensure that trees in the district grow healthily with ongoing attention and management.”
