Partial Train Service Suspension and Delays Near Jeonui Station on Gyeongbu Line (Update 1)
[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Due to an overhead line failure, the operation of some trains between Jeonui and Jochiwon stations on the Gyeongbu Line (regular) up line has been suspended.
According to Korea Railroad on the 4th, around 3 a.m. that day, during late-night track maintenance work on the Gyeongbu Line (regular) up line section between Jeonui and Jeondong stations, a power supply failure occurred when the track maintenance equipment came into contact with the overhead line catenary pole.
As a result of this accident, the up line between Jeonui and Jochiwon stations on the Gyeongbu Line was suspended, and trains in both directions are operating on a single down line, causing some regular trains to be out of service.
The suspended trains include 11 Mugunghwa trains (6 times Seoul~Busan, 2 times Seoul~Dongdaegu, 2 times Seoul~Jecheon, and 1 time Seoul~Yeosu EXPO). Korea Railroad explained that additional train suspensions may occur depending on the recovery situation.
The expected train operation suspension time is around one hour. However, it has been confirmed that there is no disruption to KTX train operations on this section.
