Introduced Korean-style 'Ssam' to the US, Sharing Culture of Jeong and Togetherness
AT Center Miju Headquarters Holds Promotion Event for Korean Ssam and Kimchi Mushrooms
[Asia Economy New York=Correspondent Baek Jong-min] An event was held to experience Korea's unique 'Jeong' culture and the excellence of Korean ingredients through 'Ssam' food.
The Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (President Kim Chun-jin) North America Headquarters hosted the '2021 K-Food Weekend' YouTube live event on the theme of 'Ssam' with power influencers on the 31st of last month (local time), attracting 20,000 viewers.
At this event, Kevin Woo, formerly of the idol group 'U-KISS,' introduced Korea's ssam culture and Korean ingredients.
Kevin Woo explained, "In Korea, when eating meat, various ingredients such as kimchi, garlic, and ssamjang are wrapped together in vegetables like perilla leaves and lettuce and eaten at once. The combination of multiple ingredients creates a harmony of flavors and allows for a balanced intake of nutrients," and added, "Just as various ingredients blend inside the ssam to maximize taste and nutrition, the 'Awe-Ssam Challenge' is being promoted with the meaning that people living in the U.S. should respect each other and live harmoniously."
YouTuber 'Strictly Dumpling' (Mike Chen) tried pairing kimchi with foods popular among Americans such as burgers, French fries, salads, tacos, and popcorn to encourage locals to approach kimchi more casually and feel familiar with it.
