Daegu City Detects 12 Environmental Pollution Sites... 2 Cases of Unauthorized Wastewater Discharge and Missing Flow Meters Referred to Prosecution
Planned Crackdown on 71 Sites Emitting Environmental Pollutants from June 7 to End of July
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Daegu City announced on the 3rd that, as a result of conducting intensive planned crackdowns on 71 facilities emitting environmental pollutants from June 7 to July 31, 12 violating facilities were detected.
This crackdown targeted habitual violators or suspected violators among plating, safety equipment manufacturing, metal processing and manufacturing, paper product manufacturing, and textile dyeing and processing industries located in four industrial complexes (3rd Industrial Complex, Seongseo Industrial Complex, Dyeing Industrial Complex, Dalseong Industrial Complex).
The main violations included ▲ installation of facilities capable of discharging wastewater without permission (1 place) ▲ failure to attach water flow meters (1 place) ▲ neglecting broken or damaged air pollution prevention facilities (2 places) ▲ failure to comply with exemption requirements for prevention facility installation (1 place), and ▲ other violations such as failure to keep prevention facility logs (7 places).
Among these violating facilities, two facilities that installed unauthorized wastewater discharge facilities and failed to attach water inflow flow meters will be investigated and referred to the prosecution. Other violating facilities, such as those neglecting broken air pollution prevention facilities, were fined and administratively sanctioned.

Jae-hak Bae, Head of the Daegu City Civil Life Judicial Police Division, expressed a strong determination, saying, "We will continue crackdowns until the zero tolerance of acts polluting the water citizens drink and the air they breathe is achieved, rooting out violations completely."
