Improvement Construction Projects for Four Elementary School Child Protection Zones Underway
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Im Taek) is taking steps to create a traffic environment where children can walk safely.
On the 3rd, Dong-gu announced that it will carry out improvement works in four elementary school zones within the district.
With a total project cost of 74 million KRW, traffic safety facilities such as terminal signs and speed bumps will first be installed at Yulgok Elementary School, and at Gyelim Elementary School, Nam Elementary School, and Sansu Elementary School, old safety fences will be replaced with design-improved fences.

Im Taek, Mayor of Dong-gu, said, "Through this improvement project in the children's protection zones, we expect to more strongly encourage drivers to comply with traffic regulations within these zones and ensure the safety of children," adding, "We will continue to do our best to prevent safety accidents involving vulnerable road users."
