10 AM Tokyo Olympic Diving Men's 3m Springboard Semifinals
Advanced as 5th in Preliminary "If Minor Mistakes Are Corrected, Better Results Expected"
Woo Haram (23, Korea Sports Promotion Foundation) is opening a new chapter in the history of Korean diving. On the morning of the 3rd at 10 a.m., he will compete as the fourteenth diver in the men's 3m springboard semifinal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, held at the Aquatics Center in Tokyo, Japan. Woo Haram scored a total of 452.45 points in six attempts during the preliminary round the day before. He secured 5th place out of 29 competitors overall, advancing to the semifinals. If he ranks within the top 12, he will have a chance to win Korea's first Olympic medal in diving in the final held at 3 p.m. that day. His current best record is 11th place in the 10m platform final at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games.

At that time, Woo Haram was an eighteen-year-old high school student, and his skills have greatly improved over the past five years. He demonstrated strong competitiveness by finishing 4th in the 3m springboard at the 2019 Gwangju World Championships. In the preliminary round of this competition, he showed medal potential by ranking 2nd behind China's Wang Zongyuan (531.30 points) through the fourth attempt. If he had not made a forward slip mistake on the sixth attempt, he could have advanced with a higher ranking. He said, "My condition seems to have improved well in time for the competition," adding, "I think I found the feeling when I am at my best. I will carry this feeling through the semifinals and finals." He also expressed confidence, saying, "If I correct minor mistakes, I believe I can achieve better results."
