Damyang County Governor Choi Hyung-sik Joins Relay Campaign 'Live Together' Against Racism
[Damyang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Choi Hyungsik, the mayor of Damyang County, announced on the 2nd that he has joined the anti-racism campaign ‘Live Together’.
The Live Together campaign is a global anti-racism relay campaign initiated by UNESCO and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to respond to the increasing hate crimes based on racism worldwide due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
Mayor Choi Hyungsik, nominated by Jeon Changel, mayor of Uljin County, Gyeongbuk, posted a photo on SNS holding a placard with a message opposing racism to encourage participation.
Mayor Choi said, “Hatred and racism received simply because of different skin colors must disappear,” and added, “Along with overcoming COVID-19, I hope we can recognize differences and become an inclusive society that embraces togetherness.”
