Chungnam Conducts Special Quarantine Inspections on 22,000 Businesses in 40 Sectors Adjacent to the Seoul Metropolitan Area
[Asia Economy (Hongseong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Chungnam Province will conduct special quarantine inspections this month targeting areas adjacent to the Seoul metropolitan area and entertainment establishments in vacation spots.
On the 1st, the province announced that to prevent the social distancing level gap with the metropolitan area from causing a quarantine "balloon effect," related organizations including city and county offices and the police agency will participate in special quarantine inspections throughout August.
The inspection targets include 6 major management facility types with 6,493 locations, 11 general management facility types with 4,892 locations, and 23 additional provincial management facility types with 11,018 locations, totaling 40 types of facilities and 22,403 locations.
In particular, the province has designated entertainment businesses and karaoke rooms located in metropolitan-adjacent areas such as Cheonan, Asan, and Dangjin, as well as vacation areas like Boryeong, Seocheon, and Taean, as key inspection targets, planning to enhance the effectiveness of quarantine inspections through surprise intensive crackdowns.
The main inspection items include compliance with quarantine rules such as the ban on private gatherings of five or more people, adherence to operating hours, and capacity limits.
Before the crackdowns, the province formed a special quarantine inspection team consisting of provincial and city/county officials, special judicial police, and the police. Especially in metropolitan-adjacent areas and entertainment facilities in vacation spots, the special judicial police and police vice squad will conduct joint enforcement activities.
Meanwhile, last month, the province conducted special inspections on 10,536 establishments within the jurisdiction and found 10 establishments violating quarantine rules such as the ban on private gatherings, imposing fines and administrative measures.

The province plans to encourage voluntary compliance with quarantine rules while simultaneously strengthening crackdowns on violations."
