Dongdaemun-gu, Replacement of LED Lights and Installation of Solar Lights in Children's Parks and Other Parks
Raising Resident Awareness on Climate Change Response and Renewable Energy... Providing Visual Attractions with Design Integration
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Yoo Deok-yeol) will promote a park lighting facility improvement project in children's parks starting in September to respond to climate change caused by greenhouse gases.
The district secured a budget of 200 million KRW for the project implementation.
Metal halide lighting consumes more power and has a shorter lifespan compared to LED lighting, resulting in higher energy consumption and maintenance costs. The park lighting facility improvement project mainly involves gradually replacing existing metal halide park lights with LED lights that consume less power, and installing solar-powered park lights that use energy generated by solar power.
The district stated that through the park lighting facility improvement project, it aims to raise awareness of renewable energy, provide convenience for park users, and offer visual attractions to residents by installing solar-powered park lights with integrated design.
