'Ryu Eunhee 9 Goals' Women's Handball Beats Japan for First Tournament Win... 15 Consecutive Wins in Korea-Japan Matches
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] Our women's handball national team achieved a complete victory in the Korea-Japan match held on Japan's home ground and secured their first win at the Tokyo Olympics. They also extended their 15 consecutive wins against Japan, demonstrating their 'absolute superiority' in skill.
Led by coach Kang Jae-won, the team defeated Japan 27-24 in the third match of Group A in the women's handball group stage held on the 29th at Yoyogi National Stadium in Tokyo, Japan. Ace Ryu Eun-hee scored 9 goals, while Jung Yoo-ra and Lee Mi-gyeong each scored 4 goals.
After losses to European powerhouses Norway and the Netherlands, Korea succeeded in turning the atmosphere around with a victory in the Korea-Japan match. They also revived their chances of advancing to the quarterfinals.
The national team will play their fourth match against Montenegro at 11 a.m. on the 31st.
