"Former Taiwanese Deputy Defense Minister Under Investigation for Espionage Activities for China"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Suhwan] A former deputy minister of Taiwan's Ministry of National Defense is reportedly under investigation by Taiwanese authorities on suspicion of espionage for China.
Taiwanese media Mirror Media reported on the 28th that Chang Jeoping, who served as deputy minister of the Ministry of National Defense from July 2019 until last month, is being investigated on espionage charges, calling it "the largest Chinese spy case in Taiwan's history."
Mirror Media cited anonymous sources claiming that former Deputy Minister Chang met privately with Hong Kong officials responsible for Chinese spy groups, receiving meals and gifts, and that his wife was also treated to a trip to Hong Kong.
According to AFP, Taipei prosecutors confirmed that the investigation is ongoing but refrained from further comments, stating that no conclusion has been reached.

According to Taiwan Central News Agency (CNA), former Deputy Minister Chang denied the charges, saying, "I strictly adhered to all confidentiality conditions while meeting friends."
