Changwon Complex Cultural Center Opens After Remodeling Dongnam Exhibition Hall
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] Korea Industrial Complex Corporation (Chairman Kim Jeong-hwan, hereinafter referred to as KICO) announced on the 28th that it held the opening ceremony of the Changwon Complex Culture Center in Changwon-si, Gyeongnam.
The Changwon National Industrial Complex is an aging industrial complex focused on production functions, established over 40 years ago, and lacked cultural and living convenience spaces for workers. The government and KICO are promoting a structural advancement project to transform the aging industrial complex into a vibrant space where young people can gather and work happily.
KICO and Changwon City were selected in 2019 for the Ministry of Industry’s industrial complex complex culture center contest project, and remodeled the former unused Dongnam Exhibition Hall West Building to be reborn as a representative cultural complex space in the region. The Changwon Complex Culture Center, with a total investment of 8.6 billion KRW, has a building area of 2,126.84㎡ and consists of one basement floor and two above-ground floors.
The Changwon Complex Culture Center is equipped with spaces such as a cultural cafe, small library, and conference rooms, and the space regeneration design company Brown Hands provides roasting and bakery lectures. Programs such as small-scale cultural exhibitions and small weddings are also prepared. The Changwon City Cultural City Support Center has also moved in and plans to operate planning and cultural experience education programs for the designation of a cultural city.
