The team, composed of Kim Jeong-hwan (38), Gu Bon-gil (32), Oh Sang-wook (25), and Kim Jun-ho (27), defeated Egypt 45-39 in the men's sabre team quarterfinals held on the 28th at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan.
The first starter, team captain Kim Jeong-hwan, defeated Ziad El-Sisi 5-2. The second starter, Oh Sang-wook, sustained an injury during the match but led Mohab Samir 10-8 to finish the second round. In the third round, Gu Bon-gil extended the lead to 15-11 against Mohamed Amer. In the subsequent rounds, the Korean team skillfully managed the match. Especially in the ninth round, the last starter Oh Sang-wook maintained a stable lead at 40-35 and reached 45 points to secure the victory.
