Kim Jong-un Pays Tribute at War Dead Cemetery on the 68th Anniversary of the Armistice Agreement Signing
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Kim Jong-un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, paid tribute to the "Patriotic War Martyrs' Cemetery," the burial site for those who died in the Korean War, on the occasion of the 68th anniversary of the signing of the Armistice Agreement, which North Korea commemorates as "Victory Day."
Korean Central Broadcasting reported on the 27th, "Comrade Kim Jong-un visited the Patriotic War Martyrs' Cemetery at midnight on July 27, marking the 68th anniversary of the great victory in the Patriotic War." The Patriotic War Martyrs' Cemetery was established in 2013 in Yeonmot-dong, Pyongyang, after Kim's rise to power.
In front of the martyrs' cemetery, General Secretary Kim laid a wreath and stated, "Even as time passes and generations change hundreds of times, the noble revolutionary spirit and heroic feats of the victorious generation will continuously inspire and elevate the patriotism and fighting spirit of future generations, powerfully driving our people's victorious advance toward new revolutionary victories."
Accompanying the visit were Chief of the General Staff Pak Jong-chon and Director of the General Political Bureau Kwon Young-jin. Former Minister of Social Security Ri Yong-gil also accompanied them, confirming that the Minister of Defense position has changed from Kim Jong-gwan to Ri Yong-gil.
