Lee Jae-myung Camp Urges "Party to Take Action and Sanction Individuals Engaged in Black Propaganda"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jin-young] As the negative exchanges between ruling party presidential candidates Gyeonggi Province Governor Lee Jae-myung and former Democratic Party leader Lee Nak-yeon intensify, Lee’s campaign camp urged on the 26th, “Please include in the agreement between candidates a clause that the party will strongly sanction any camp or individual involved in clear black propaganda.” This is essentially a demand for sanctions against the opposing camp of former leader Lee.
Park Chan-dae, chief spokesperson for Lee’s Open Camp, held a press conference at the National Assembly Communication Office on the same day and said, “The agreement between candidates must include a clause that the party will strongly sanction any camp or individual involved in deliberate distortion, fabrication, or clear black propaganda not based on facts.” This is a request to include candidate disciplinary measures in the ‘One Team Agreement Ceremony,’ a gentleman’s agreement proposed by the Democratic Party leadership to resolve the slander between the two candidates.
Spokesperson Park stated, “It is true that during the primary process, negative campaigning between candidates has often intensified, causing public disapproval,” and added, “Through the central party’s One Team Agreement Ceremony, Lee Jae-myung’s campaign actively agrees with the policy to encourage policy competition rather than negative campaigning.”
After the press conference, he told reporters, “If clear black propaganda is conducted, disciplinary action is necessary,” and added, “The Election Commission should also impose severe penalties if necessary. I believe there is no case where this proposal would be rejected.”
