On the 26th, People Power Party lawmakers Kwon Seong-dong, Yoo Sang-beom, and Yoon Chang-hyun issued a "Statement Urging Presidential Candidates Outside the Party to Join" at the National Assembly in Yeouido, Seoul, saying, "We urge preliminary candidate Yoon Seok-yeol, who has fought against this regime's oppression and carries the great expectations of the people, to join the People Power Party."
They stated, "Even if nine out of ten thoughts differ, everyone who shares the one thought of restoring the country through regime change and creating a nation where the people are the true owners must unite," emphasizing, "That is the true path the people desire and not to keep the people waiting."
They also said, "Any external candidate who joins the People Power Party will be guaranteed fair opportunities without discrimination," adding, "We will actively respond to the current ruling power's irresponsible negative attacks and protect our candidates against their relentless political sabotage attempts."
Furthermore, they appealed, "We also extend an invitation to other candidates who have the people's expectations, such as former Deputy Prime Minister for Economy Kim Dong-yeon. Let all opposition candidates gather on the most certain and effective platform for regime change and hold a festive primary," stating, "That is to honor the will of the people who long for regime change."
After the press conference, Representative Kwon met with reporters and explained, "Yesterday, there was a chicken and beer meeting between former Prosecutor General Yoon and Representative Lee Jun-seok, and I understand that they advanced meaningful conversations there," adding, "We issued this statement today because we believe it is desirable for former Prosecutor General Yoon to join as soon as possible and freely participate in the People Power Party primary platform for the benefit of both him and the party." A total of 40 lawmakers signed the statement.
