View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) announced on the 27th that it is conducting an informatization support project to facilitate the rapid digital transformation of its partner small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in collaboration with its in-house Digital Innovation Promotion Team, which is leading ICT business innovation.
KHNP has independently established a win-win development task force to maintain and develop the nuclear power ecosystem, continuously visiting partner companies to gather their opinions. Through this process, KHNP identified the need to support nuclear power partner companies lacking informatization capabilities. It has invested its own budget to support nine companies over two years, providing approximately 80 million KRW per company (including a 25% company contribution) to enhance their informatization capabilities. KHNP selected customized informatization support implementation tasks for each of the nine companies and has been conducting the informatization support project for two years since September last year.
KHNP selected the Inno-Biz Association as the operating agency. Through support such as ▲establishing information management systems like Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) ▲building and upgrading unit systems including security ▲creating non-face-to-face work environments such as mobile and remote work ▲and other informatization consulting and system construction support, the project has strengthened companies' remote work environments and enhanced their security.
For example, Company A, a support target, only implemented physical security policies such as confidentiality agreements for employees, while managing critical technical documents like drawings and technology development histories on individual PCs. Without separate security and backup systems, the original data was exposed to risks of damage or leakage due to hacking or virus intrusion, necessitating enhanced security measures.
Through KHNP’s informatization support project, Company A introduced an internal data leakage prevention system and a document centralization solution, building a system that efficiently manages employee work while proactively blocking document leaks, significantly strengthening information system security.
In another case, Company B lacked an online system for internal work processing, causing frequent delays when responsible personnel were absent. Additionally, it was difficult to track equipment and material status between multiple field sites and headquarters, making informatization system construction urgently needed.
Recently, with KHNP’s support, Company B introduced groupware, improving work processing speed and minimizing unnecessary labor loss. Furthermore, by enabling related tasks to be handled anywhere with internet access at headquarters and field sites, they established a system that manages equipment and personnel without omissions. To prepare for potential personal and sensitive information leaks due to internal work computerization, they enhanced their security system, allowing employees to work without anxiety, resulting in high satisfaction among executives and staff, according to a Company B representative.
This informatization support project is evaluated to have improved the productivity and management capabilities of partner SMEs by supporting the establishment of remote work environments and the adoption of security solutions in response to COVID-19.
