Former Chairman Choi stated on Facebook that "Please join me," and "I will stand with the people with the belief that we can open a hopeful future again."
He said, "From today, I will begin activities as an official candidate. Many thoughts came to mind," adding, "I recently saw news about a 31-year-old young man who died alone. Over 150 resumes were found in the officetel where the young man passed away. Thinking about the fate of the young man who faced a painful destiny alone and left this world broke my heart."
He continued, "There was hope in Korea that tomorrow would be better than today. However, the youth of this era are losing hope for tomorrow," emphasizing, "I will fight with everything I have so that Korea can once again become a country where people live with hope."
