Naju-si to Recruit Students for 'SW Miraechaeum Camp' Starting Next Month on the 2nd
[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Naju City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Kang In-gyu) announced on the 26th that it will recruit elementary school students to participate in the ‘SW Future Filling Camp’ from the 2nd to the 4th of next month, in collaboration with the Naju Office of Education and the Jeonnam Information and Culture Industry Promotion Agency.
This camp is designed as a time to create various applied products through theoretical and practical (experiential) education to cultivate basic knowledge and practical skills in the fields of SW, AI, Internet of Things (IoT), and drones.
From the 9th to the 12th of next month (4 hours per day), a total of 8 sessions of education will be conducted, including ‘Making My Own Mood Lamp (Cup) with a 3D Printer,’ ‘Creating a Smart Farm Using IoT,’ and ‘Experiencing Autonomous Flight of AI Drones.’
The target participants are 80 students in grades 4 to 6 of elementary schools within Naju City, with 10 students participating per session.
Applications for camp participation can be submitted by filling out the application form through the ‘QR code’ posted on the SW Future Filling Center website from the 2nd to the 4th of next month.
The SW Future Filling Center was opened in October last year by remodeling the Deokrye Branch of Naju Sanpo Elementary School (closed school) and is being used as an educational space for core technologies of the 4th Industrial Revolution such as SW, AI, VR·AR, and IoT to bridge the SW education gap for elementary and middle school students.
Despite the prolonged impact of COVID-19, distinctive educational programs are being operated, including online and offline education for children and adolescents, ‘Visiting SW·AI Coding Classes for Island Villages,’ and ‘Visiting SW·AI Coding Classes for Disabled Youth Hope Connection.’
Additionally, differentiated education for job creation for the unemployed and women with career interruptions has trained 324 specialized SW education instructors.
The center supports the establishment of cooperatives to provide a foundation for self-reliance for talented instructors, building a virtuous employment cycle system that returns knowledge and talent to the local community through discovering creative educational programs and dispatching instructors.
Mayor Kang In-gyu said, “As the proverb says, it takes a whole village to raise a child, we will do our best to discover and operate core technology programs centered on the SW Future Filling Center so that local children and adolescents can grow well as leading talents in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution.”
