Kim Hak-beomho, Self-Collapsed Romania Crushed 4-0... Jumping to 1st Place in Group
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] Kim Hak-beom's team succeeded in turning the atmosphere around by completely defeating Romania.
The South Korean Olympic football team, led by coach Kim Hak-beom, won 4-0 against Romania in the second match of Group B in the Tokyo Olympics group stage, held on the 25th at Ibaraki Kashima Stadium in Kashima City, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan. The goals came from an own goal by the opponent in the 27th minute of the first half, an additional goal by Eom Won-sang in the 14th minute of the second half, and a multi-goal performance by Lee Kang-in in the 39th and 45th minutes of the second half.
With this victory, our team recorded 3 points (goal difference +3), tying with Honduras (3 points, goal difference 0), New Zealand (3 points, goal difference 0), and Romania (3 points, goal difference -3). However, South Korea took first place in Group B by leading the other three countries in goal difference.
The match became easier for our team when Romania scored an own goal and received a red card in the 27th minute of the first half. From the second half, wildcard midfielder Kwon Chang-hoon was substituted in to increase the attacking numbers, relentlessly pressing Romania's goal. As a result, additional goals were scored, and the match ended in a complete victory.
With this win, South Korea will determine its place in the quarterfinals, awarded to the top two teams, based on the final Group B match against Honduras, which will be held at 5:30 PM on the 28th at Yokohama National Stadium in Yokohama.
