Chat Consultation Service 'HappyTalk' Hacked... Over 12,000 Personal Information Records Leaked
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] HappyTalk, a corporate chat consultation outsourcing company, was hacked, resulting in the leakage of customer information and consultation content. In relation to this, Toss, whose information of about 1,500 customers was leaked, immediately destroyed the relevant information and began preparing compensation measures.
According to the financial industry on the 23rd, MBISolution, which operates 'HappyTalk,' reported that on the 21st, an external intruder accessed the server and obtained chat consultation data. According to their own full investigation, a total of 80,272 chat consultations were leaked, among which 12,811 consultations contained personal information such as names and phone numbers.
It is known that client companies whose consultation information was leaked in this hacking incident include Baedal Minjok and Toss. At Baedal Minjok, about 11,000 consultation records exchanged between restaurant owners and connectors (delivery workers) were leaked, and at Toss, the names, birthdays, and phone numbers of 1,500 customers who used HappyTalk consultations from the 3rd to the 19th of this month were leaked.

In response, Toss took immediate action. Right after the incident, Toss reported it to the Korea Internet & Security Agency, suspended the HappyTalk service, and took measures such as destroying customer information remaining in HappyTalk. Currently, compensation procedures for affected customers are underway.
