View original image[Wando=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyung-pil] Wando County, Jeollanam-do (Governor Shin Woo-cheol) and the Wando County Council (Chairman Heo Gung-hee) signed an MOU on the 23rd with the government of Tarlac Province, Philippines (Governor Susan Yap) to promote exchange cooperation and friendship in the fields of agriculture and fisheries.
According to the Wando County Council, the signing ceremony was attended by Shin Woo-cheol, Governor of Wando County, Heo Gung-hee, Chairman of the Wando County Council, and Kim Hyuk, Chairman of the economic group Kang Group representing the government of Tarlac Province, Philippines.
Going forward, the two regions agreed to engage in practical exchanges in various fields including agriculture and fisheries, economy, culture and arts, education, and administration.
In particular, Wando County (population about 50,000) and the government of Tarlac Province (population about 2.5 million) will actively support exchange projects such as dispatching foreign seasonal workers and providing agricultural and fishery technology support to improve productivity in agriculture and fisheries, and will jointly discover and promote cooperative projects.
Governor Shin Woo-cheol said, “During the farming and fishing seasons, there have been difficulties due to labor shortages at abalone and seaweed farms and agricultural households. Through this business agreement, I hope the labor shortage problem will be resolved by supporting the dispatch of workers,” and added, “I look forward to strengthening friendly cooperative relations and achieving mutual development in the future.”
