Hanmi Semiconductor Begins Supplying 'Micro Saw'
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] Hanmi Semiconductor, a global semiconductor equipment developer, announced on the 23rd that it has started delivering the Micro SAW & Vision Placement (MS&VP) system, which applies the ‘Micro SAW’ equipment developed domestically for the first time last month, to its customers.
Hanmi Semiconductor’s Micro SAW is equipment used to cut semiconductor packages. It is the first case of successful localization, breaking free from the influence of Japanese companies that dominated the overseas IT equipment market. Combined with Vision Placement, a key semiconductor process equipment and Hanmi Semiconductor’s representative product holding the world’s number one market share, it has received favorable reviews from semiconductor customers.
Hanmi Semiconductor Vice Chairman Kwak Dong-shin said, "Through the localization of Micro SAW, we have escaped the procurement risks related to Japanese companies for our main equipment, Micro SAW & Vision Placement (MS&VP)," and added, "We expect to further strengthen our market dominance."
He continued, "Based on customer evaluations that highlight shorter delivery times and superior productivity, convenience, and reliability compared to competitors, we also expect strong performance in the second half of this year."
He explained, "Global IT companies such as Apple, Qualcomm, and Broadcom are actively adopting EMI shield processes in semiconductor chips for IT devices related to 5G communication, metaverse, smartphones, smartwatches, wireless earphones, as well as automotive electronics including autonomous driving and vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication."
