Central Fire Service Academy Graduates 101st Class of New Firefighters... 156 Rookie Firefighters
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Central Fire Service Academy under the National Fire Agency announced on the 22nd that 156 rookie firefighters who completed the new appointee training course on the 23rd graduated from the Central Fire Service Academy and will work at frontline fire stations.
As the 101st class, they entered the academy in April and acquired basic knowledge necessary for firefighting duties and practical skills in fire, rescue, and emergency medical services over 15 weeks.
To prevent the spread of COVID-19, the Central Fire Service Academy omitted the graduation ceremony and plans to award only the top performers and those who contributed to educational activities in the principal's office while adhering to quarantine guidelines.
The National Fire Agency Commissioner Award was given to Firefighter Yoon Chang-hee (29), who achieved the highest scores, and Firefighters Shin Young-wook (27), Jung Yong-tae (33), Kim Se-jin (30), Kim Tae-gyu (41), and Choi In-jung (33) received the Central Fire Service Academy Principal Award. Firefighter Jung Yong-tae was recognized not only for his excellent academic performance but also for his diligent role as the student leader.
Lee Young-pal, the newly appointed principal of the Central Fire Service Academy who took office on the 2nd and produced his first graduates, said, "Despite the difficult circumstances caused by COVID-19, you have successfully completed the training course. I ask you to take pride and honor as firefighters of the Republic of Korea and become reliable fire officials who protect the lives and property of the people."

Meanwhile, including this graduating class, the Central Fire Service Academy has produced 555 graduates as of 2021 and plans to train about 400 new firefighters in the second half of the year, producing a total of approximately 1,000 rookie firefighters this year.
