Mayor Oh will first inspect the current status of cooling shelters operating to provide rest for vulnerable groups such as elderly people exhausted by the heatwave. For the residents of Namdaemun jjokbangchon, an indoor cooling shelter equipped with air conditioners and shower facilities is operating near the Namdaemun Senior Citizens' Center, and across the street, an outdoor cooling shelter with large fans is also in operation simultaneously.
He will visit the living spaces of elderly residents in the jjokbangchon and have conversations with the residents to listen to their difficulties.
Additionally, Mayor Oh will personally participate in spraying water from fire hydrants as a heatwave reduction measure to cool down the street heat. Seoul City, in cooperation with fire stations, sprays water from fire hydrants throughout the jjokbangchon area when heatwave advisories or warnings are issued to lower the temperature.
