The Home to Car service is a remote control service that allows users to start the car engine, lock doors, honk the horn, activate hazard lights, adjust temperature, and control electric vehicle charging from home using the built-in voice recognition system called ‘Voice Home.’ Hyundai Construction plans to launch this service starting with ‘The H Xi Gaepo,’ where residents will begin moving in August this year, equipped with Voice Home.
The Car to Home service, commercialized in 2019, allows remote control of built-in devices connected to the home IoT system, Hi-oT, from the car. Users can control home lighting, heating, built-in air conditioners, gas valves, standby power cutoff outlets, and indoor ventilation through the vehicle’s navigation screen or voice commands.
This Home to Car/Car to Home service is a future mobility commercialized service that integrates existing apartment home network facilities and connected car technology into a hyper-connected platform, demonstrating future technology where homes and cars overcome barriers and connect with each other.
Leading Residential Culture Innovation through Development of ICT Intelligent Integrated Systems for Smart Buildings
Based on the Home to Car and Car to Home services, Hyundai Construction plans to develop and commercialize an ‘Active House’ that understands future automotive technologies and characteristics, and communicates future mobility technologies during building planning, design, and construction.
To this end, an ‘ICT Intelligent Integrated Control System’ will be applied within buildings, enabling cars and robots to connect and share information with various IoT devices in the building, thereby constructing intelligent buildings where autonomous driving and robots can operate safely.
Additionally, Hyundai Construction is developing services to control IoT home appliances through partnerships with Samsung and LG Electronics, scheduled for introduction in the second half of 2021. Using Hyundai Construction’s smartphone application Hi-oT and the built-in voice recognition system Voice Home, users will be able to control and check the status of IoT home appliances. In complexes occupied after the second half of the year, residents will be able to operate or stop robot vacuum cleaners or air purifiers by voice and check the status of laundry dryers from the bedroom, the company explained.
Domestic First Smart Home Brand ‘Hi-oT’ and Voice Recognition System ‘Voice Home’
Hyundai Construction launched ‘Hi-oT,’ Korea’s first smart home brand combining Hyundai and Internet of Things (IoT), in 2016. Through collaboration with SK Telecom, it developed a ‘Smart Home App’ first applied in ‘Hillstate Mokdong’ in 2016. In 2018, the company developed its own ‘Hi-oT’ platform and app, and created Korea’s first built-in voice recognition system, ‘Voice Home,’ which was first introduced in ‘Hillstate River City,’ occupied in July last year.
The biggest feature of Voice Home is that Hyundai Construction designs apartments considering voice recognition speakers from the planning stage, allowing residents to conveniently use built-in voice recognition speakers inside their units without purchasing separate devices. Using Hyundai Construction’s own platform, the ‘Hi-oT App,’ and voice recognition, users can easily control lighting, heating, and built-in air conditioners individually or collectively. Voice commands can also be used to check today’s or tomorrow’s weather and fine dust levels, add schedules, and receive alarms at specified times. Additionally, Voice Home can control TVs connected via KT’s GiGA Genie set-top box.
