GH Launches Fundraising Campaign to Support Housing for Youth Aging Out of Care
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation (GH) is partnering with the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation to launch a fundraising campaign to provide homes for children aging out of protective care.
GH announced on the 21st that it will run a donation campaign until the 31st of this month through Naver Happy Bean’s fundraising box titled "Supporting the First Home to Realize the Dreams of Children Aging Out of Care."
Children aging out of care are those who turn 18 and must officially become independent after leaving protective facilities such as child care institutions, foster homes, or youth shelters. The number of children aging out of care reaches approximately 2,500 to 2,700 annually.
This year, GH will use the funds raised to support housing stability for children aging out of care, including a deposit support project providing 3 million KRW per person. GH has donated a total of 30 million KRW.
Lee Heon-wook, President of GH, said, "The most essential need for children aging out of care to become independent is a stable housing environment. Through this donation campaign, we hope that their first step into society will be one of standing together, not alone."
The donation campaign through the fundraising box will continue until the 31st of this month. Support for children aging out of care can be made via Naver Happy Bean or the corporation’s website.
