On the 20th, Mayor Heo Tae-jeong of Daejeon announced the "Yuseong Complex Terminal Construction Plan" during a city administration briefing, outlining these details.
According to the construction plan, the Yuseong Complex Terminal will be completed on a 32,693㎡ (10,000 pyeong) site near Guam Station in Yuseong-gu, with three underground floors and 33 above-ground floors.
In particular, the city plans to simultaneously secure the public nature and business viability of the passenger facility by developing within the project site ▲ a knowledge industry center ▲ public office facilities for public buildings and youth activity spaces ▲ communal housing such as happy housing for youth and newlyweds ▲ citizen rest areas and living SOC facilities.
First, 30.7% of the total area will be used as public office facilities, including knowledge industry centers and spaces for public institutions, which have recently seen increased demand. This will attract about 290 companies from regions outside Daejeon and create job spaces for approximately 4,330 people.
Additionally, to stabilize housing for young people and newlyweds and to ease the project burden due to enhanced public nature, 120 units of happy housing and 390 units of communal housing will be constructed together. Facilities necessary for youth activities and exchanges, such as shared offices, shared kitchens, maker spaces, and meeting rooms, will also be provided.
Moreover, the city will expand living SOC facilities within the Yuseong Complex Terminal project site, including a sports playground and a children's job experience theme park.
However, the city plans to include residential-commercial complexes and commercial facilities in the Yuseong Complex Terminal construction plan but will minimize the scale of these facilities. The commercial facility area will be reduced by 37% compared to before, and the number of residential units will decrease from 721 to 510, which is the core of the plan.
The detailed scale of each facility and the required budget are expected to be finalized through the terminal architectural basic plan service to be commissioned next month, with the estimated project cost at 600 billion KRW.
Meanwhile, the Yuseong Complex Terminal is planned to start construction in November 2023 and complete the project by April 2026. The city is also considering installing a downtown airport terminal for the convenience of airport users.
Mayor Heo said, "By constructing happy housing in a station area with high housing demand from youth and newlyweds, the Yuseong Complex Terminal project will contribute to housing stability for these groups. Above all, considering the excellent location of the project site, we will establish a knowledge industry center to create a business-friendly environment and promote the creation of quality jobs."
