The KMA issued a heavy rain advisory for the Seoul metropolitan area, excluding the southwestern part of Seoul, and some parts of Chungnam. In these areas, very heavy showers accompanied by thunder and lightning, with rainfall of 30 to 50 mm per hour, are expected.
The KMA explained, "As daytime temperatures rise, atmospheric instability is increasing, causing the areas experiencing showers to gradually expand and intensify, leading to the issuance of heavy rain advisories in some locations. Most parts of the country can expect showers accompanied by gusts of wind, thunder, and lightning until 9 p.m."
More than 80 mm of heavy rain is expected in the Seoul metropolitan area, Chungcheong region, and Gangwon Yeongseo area. Except for the five islands in the West Sea and Ulleungdo and Dokdo, rainfall of about 5 to 60 mm is expected.
The KMA announced that at 2:15 p.m. on the same day, a heavy rain advisory will be issued for the southeastern, northeastern, and northwestern parts of Seoul. The affected districts include Songpa-gu, Gangnam-gu, Seocho-gu, Gangdong-gu, Nowon-gu, Seongbuk-gu, Jungnang-gu, Gwangjin-gu, Dongdaemun-gu, Dobong-gu, Gangbuk-gu, Seongdong-gu, Eunpyeong-gu, Mapo-gu, Seodaemun-gu, Yongsan-gu, Jongno-gu, and Jung-gu.
