Exploring Expansion of Startup Ecosystems Between Both Countries
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] Accelerator FuturePlay (CEO Ryu Joonghee) announced on the 19th that it has signed a strategic business agreement with Indonesia's Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) to discover early-stage startup teams in Indonesia.
The signing ceremony was held in a non-face-to-face format considering the COVID-19 situation.
Bandung Institute of Technology is the first engineering university established in Indonesia. It is a prestigious university with abundant human resources in the field of science and technology, producing many talents including Ahmad Zaki, co-founder of Indonesia's e-commerce app Bukalapak, the first president Sukarno, and the third president Habibie.
Through this MOU, FuturePlay aims to discover outstanding technical talents and startup teams in Indonesia. FuturePlay plans to review investments in startups produced by ‘LPiK ITB’, the entrepreneur hub within Bandung Institute of Technology, and participate as a mentor company in various startup accelerating programs conducted on campus.
Bandung Institute of Technology seeks ways to expand into the Asian market through information on the growth and ecosystem of Korean technology startups. Additionally, through information exchange between the two institutions, they plan to share an environment that allows early-stage startup teams with innovative technologies from both countries to accelerate their businesses without being restricted by national boundaries.
