[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daehyun] Eighteen students belonging to the Kwangwoon University ice hockey team have been collectively diagnosed with COVID-19.
On the 18th, the Kwangwoon University COVID-19 Countermeasures Committee announced through the school's website that 18 members of the ice hockey team were confirmed positive for COVID-19 on that day.
The committee stated, "Currently, four students are awaiting test results, so the number of confirmed cases may increase," and "Although the quarantine authorities are conducting an epidemiological investigation and the exact transmission route has not been confirmed, it is understood that a cluster transmission occurred within the ice hockey team."
The committee identified that some confirmed cases used the school's ice rink locker room on the 15th. Therefore, the facility will be closed until the 21st for thorough disinfection.
